Future Salon speakers afterwards often tell me, that the Future Salon audience asks the best questions. It is because every one of us in the audience has such diverse background and therefore a different angle to look at any problem. I hope you can join us too on the 5th of February 6pm PST for the Future Salon with David Brin. This time in the cafeteria of SAP Labs Building 3 details see further down.
We would like to maximize that audience interaction and give you more voice too, this is why we have changed the flow of the event:
Agenda
6:00-6:30 p.m. Networking & hors d'oeuvres
6:30-6:35 p.m. Welcome and Future Salon introduction Mark Finnern
6:35-7:15 p.m. David Brin presentation
7:15-7:16 p.m. Minute of silence to let it all sync in
7:16-8:30 p.m. Interactive audience discussion
8:30-9:00 p.m. Networking & book signing
We have shortened the beginning networking to 30 minutes, to start at 6:30pm when we are still more alert.
After introduction to the Future Salon and this new format, David Brin will present for 30 to 45 minutes. We then take a minute of silence, to give our brains a chance to catch up with all the information that David presented.
After that we form groups of 6-8 people to discuss for 10-15 minutes what resonated from David's presentation. Every group comes up with 1 question or brief statement/suggestion, what we should do differently to create a world that works for all.
The rest of the event we will go from group to group, hear the question and give David a chance to reply.
I think this will be more enjoyable for everyone and I can't wait to see how it will work out.
To enable the quick group forming, we have adjusted the seating in the room. Current plan is to have 4 rows of chairs, that may seat 30% of the audience. Otherwise we are having high round tables for people to stand at and enjoy their drink of joice. Standing desks and walking meetings are all the rage in Silicon Valley, here comes the standing get together. Come early and claim your seat if you want to sit.
We will have additional chairs to the side just in case the demand is higher than we anticipate. The hope is that we will be able to bring the audience closer to the speaker and enable more interaction.
We will do our best to webcast the event: Google HangOut sign up here. We will have dedicated people in the room to bring in your questions. We will have people leading the online discussion too.
Super excited about this event. Please join and don't miss a minute of it. Register!
