SocialText cofounder Ross Mayfield had one of the highest rated sessions at the ACC2003 conference. This is why I am very happy that he will make time in his busy schedule and lead us through the latest developments in the area of Social Software. No book to read this time (I know that that makes many of you happy :-) but check his blogs, worth a read independent of whether you have time on Friday the 21st or not: Many-to-many, Socialtext, Ross Mayfield.
Instead of just talking about Social Software, we came up with the idea of using social software already leading to, during and may be even after the event. In reality we do use Social Software since the beginning with our Yahoo Group and the Futurist Salon Companion Weblog.
This time we will add a couple more things, to give you the opportunity to use the tools and make up your own mind about how useful these are in what circumstances.
First up: Public Mind a site created for demand aggregation. Harry Max is the founder and he will also be in the audience and briefly introduce it. There were a couple of people asking me whether and when Zack Lynch will be back, because they felt that there was so much more, that he didn't have the time to cover when he talked about the upcoming Neurosociety at our Salon in August.
Zack does not know about this, but we created a request on Public Mind for him to come back soon. If you are also interested in having him present at one of the Salons in 2004, please sign the request. If enough people sign up, he will probably be happy to talk again. (Full disclosure: I am a voluntary adviser to Public Mind, because I believe in the idea and the positive change that it will bring.)
Second and third: It will be at SAP again, where there is free Wifi in the room. If you have, pleae bring your wireless laptop and you will be able to check web-pages that Ross is talking about, write a real-time blog or comment to the talk in a chat channel that we will project to two of the 4 monitors. Going to be very interesting.
Fourth and fifth in another post.
It will be the last Salon for this year, a time to reflect and fine tune our event, please think about how we can improve the Future or at least the Futurist Salon in 2004.
Friday November 21st 7pm.
